Bedding

Changing your bedding, duvets and pillows can make all the difference to your bedroom and give it the fresh new look it deserves but deciding on what to choose can sometimes take time.

The first thing to do is to decide on the colour scheme for the room as this will then become the base which will then help you pick the bedding.  There are so many different colours to choose from so why not have a look online for some ideas and inspiration.

If the furniture in your bedroom is modern then try to keep the style of bedding in line with it.  Another thing to remember when buying your bedding is the washing instructions.  Although most bedding is machine washable I’m sure you wouldn’t be too happy if the bedding you had chosen was dry cleaning only!

Another tip is to buy a duvet and duvet cover which is slightly bigger than the size of your bed so in the winter you won’t be fighting for the duvet throughout the night.

When it comes to choosing new duvets and pillows there are lots of different types to choose from.  Choose from a natural filling such as duck down, goose down and feather and down or a synthetic filling such as polyester hollowfibre or mircofibre with non-allergenic varieties also available.

Duvets also come in a range of different thicknesses too called togs.  If you are looking for a lightweight duvet then choose a tog of between 3.0 and 4.5.  A duvet with a tog of 7.0 to 10.5 is more popular in spring or autumn while a duvet with a tog of 12.0 to 15.0 is perfect for those cold winter nights.

So when it comes to choosing new bedding, duvets and pillows, make sure you take the time to choose the right one for you so you can look forward to a good night’s sleep!
